The story of Vostok watches dates back to the year 1942 when one of the Moscow watch-making factories was moved to a little town named Chistopol, which is located on the Kama River in central of Russia. Many kinds of National Defense equipment was made at the former watch factory during the years of the war. As soon as the war was over, however, they started to make mechanical wristwatches. In 1965, the factory became an official supplier of the Soviet Union Department of Defense. In that year the creation of the world famous "Komandirskie" (Commander's) Vostok wristwatches demonstrated the highest standards of precision, reliability, and resistance to unfavorable conditions. More currently, Vostok wristwatches have been awarded various international prizes and have been very popular both in Russia and abroad because of the combination of high precision, reliability and modern design.
