The U-Boat story can trace its beginning back to 1942 when Ilvo Fontana was commissioned by the Italian government to make a fine useable watch for the pilots and officers that would be both legible and stylish. Despite the contract with the government falling through, Fontana held onto the plans hoping to bring it to fruition later.
Skip to 2000 when Ilvo’s grandson Italo Fontana resurrected the plans and brought these watches out to the public. U-Boat makes several different collections including their Thousands of Feet collection. Every watch uses a Swiss ETA manual or automatic movement.
In 2005 U-boat Watches teamed up with Mounir Moufarrige, famous for bringing Montblanc and Chloé back to the forefront of style.
