In 1791, Jean-François Bautte, a watchmaker and goldsmith, signed his first watches. He later created a manufacturing company in Geneva which grouped together all of the watch making trades of that time. Then in 1852, the watchmaker Constant Girard started the Girard & Cie Firm in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Bautte then married Marie Perregaux and the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture started in 1856. In 1906, Constant Girard-Gallet took over control of the Manufacturer from his father and merged it with Girard-Perregaux & Cie. Since then, the brand began its activities of reinforcing their place of prestigious mechanical watches under the leadership of Luigi Macaluso.
