Chopard Watches

Chopard moved to Geneva in 1920 and began the production of quality watches. In the early 1960s the Chopard Company was taken over by the young goldsmith and watchmaker Karl Scheufele, after Paul-Andre Chopard was forced to give up the business since his sons sought alternative careers. Paul-Andre then sold the business to Karl Scheufele who contributed to the updating of the company and added the jewelry section of the Chopard line up. In 1975 the Chopard factory relocated from the Geneva to Meyrin-Geneva where they started producing ladies' and jewelry timepieces. In 1976 Chopard saw the introduction of the Happy Diamonds collection. Watches from the collection featured mobile diamonds that floated freely between two sapphire crystals. In 1980 the Chopard Company came into the market of sports watches on leather straps. The first Chopard boutiques opened to success in Hong Kong, Geneva and Vienna in the 1980s. The turn of the millennium was celebrated by the Chopard L.U.C Quattro watch, which contained a revolutionary caliber with four barrels, which allowed a 9-day power reserve. Later the brand became a part of the sailing world, having launched the Grand Prix Chopard Decision 35 sailing regatta. Mr. Scheufele is still the president of the Chopard Company and has kept the company as a family business producing luxury watches.
