Remo Bertolucci grew up near Pisa in Mediterranean Tuscany. In a case of love at first sight, Bertolucci met and fell in love with a vacationing Swiss girl in 1965. In a short few months following that meeting the young Remo decides to go back with her to Switzerland and join their family run watch making business in of Bienne. The company was established in 1911, and is already a well recognized and thought of manufacturer of mechanical watches. Bertolucci was a micro-mechanical engineer, and soon discovered a gift and interest in watch making. The ideas soared, and Bertolucci’s creative spirit was excited. In 1973, he became active in the private label watch business. In the years after, Bertolucci learned valuable information and experience watch making. Unavoidably, however, his Italian sense of style and his Swiss watch-making talent came together. In 1987, Bertolucci began BERTOLUCCI S.A. in Neuchâtel. Using a bracelet that calls to mind organic pebbly shapes, he made the Vir in 1994. BERTOLUCCI S.A. quickly became popular and quite successful.  Since 2005, the Dickson Group has taken over and breathed new life in BERTOLUCCI.
